So a little past midnight yesterday, I found out Park Jay, leader of Kpop group 2PM will be leaving the group. Reason? Four days ago, someone dug up some of Jay’s past comments on Myspace about Korea. Korean netizens overreacted about some of his comments that he made FOUR YEARS ago. Jay mentioned how “korea was gay” and some other stuff. Netizens then started attacking him, and someone even made a petition for him to suicide! Like seriously, how immature can they get? Jay already apologized, what more do you want? The comments on his Myspace was blown out of proportion. I have seen some translations Koreans made out of his comments, and some were exaggerated. Jay has left the group and he LEFT KOREA a couple of hours ago. When Jay posted his withdrawal and goodbyes, only then some netizens apologize and ask him not to leave Korea. HOTTEST (name of fanclub) tried to gather all their fans to bid/stop Jay at the airport. It was reported about 300 fans showed up.
I’m not even a big fan, and I feel so bad. I’m just recently got into 2PM and Jay was my second favorite member. Jay posted those comments four years ago, when he was a trainee who was lonely and felt like an outcast. Seriously, wouldn’t everyone feel the same if they moved to a foreign country as a teenager, barely knowing the language, culture, and not knowing anyone? In addition, the way Jay worded his comment is typical for teenage Americans! (those ‘ganster’/'slang’) I’m sure Jay’s views of Korea has changed drastically since then. I’m sure many of you are thinking why he gave up so fast. It really must be hard for him, leaving the group who he considers as family, and he probably thought this was the best way. He doesn’t want to drag down the group, who recently received huge popularity and has a bright future. What I find so ridiculous is that after Jay announced his departure, the people who posted his Myspace comments, revealed the rest of his other comments! Those comments on his myspace also includes his life in Korea. He mentioned how he felt lonely, everything is so different from America, and how he’s doing his best so he can make money and help pay off his mother’s debts! Netizens/anti fans hearts must feel SO good right now for ruining a young man’s life, dreams, and hard work. It’s so sad that Jay just celebrated 2PM’s 1st anniversary too.
I wish the best to Jay, 2PM, and HOTTEST.
